Help!ipod touch is recognized as a digital camera in computer?

i bought an ipod touch and when i plug it into to the computer it recognizes it as a digital camera and wont let me but music on it!please help it is my birthday present and i really want to keep it. i have a hp computer. thanks so much if it works i will hive you best answer!PLEASE HELP!!!its irrating me

When a DHCP client is unable to find a DHCP server, the Vista machine selects a random IP address from an automatic private IP address (APIPA) range.

APIPA range consists of an IP address 169.254.xy with subnet mask 255.255.0.0 network. Why APIPA range considered private? Since this series of network numbers used on the Internet it is also uncertain because the customer generates an arbitrary number of homes (part y) for this network 169,254.

Say for example that the customer selects a wealth ID of 100.23. The customer must then communicate to the network with a broadcast packet it wishes to use the IP address 169.254.100.23. If no other computer responds with the IP address is already in use Vista logs IP addresses bound to NCI.

So what? The significance of this feature is that Vista machines are DHCP clients will still be assigned an IP address, even when they can not find a DHCP server. It is better than no IP address all because they can process 169,254 to communicate with other computers on the same subnet, which can not find a DHCP server either (and also attribute even a APIPA address).

In other words, APIPA for (limited) communication network when the DHCP server is either down or simply is not there. Note however that APIPA does not assign a default gateway, and therefore can not communicate with any computer, who lives on the other side of a router. A Vista computer with a APIPA assigned address will not be able to access the Internet or other computer that live on other subnets.

APIPA is not a new feature to Windows Vista. A joint working Vista and XP will be able to use APIPA and communicate with each other using different 169.254.xy address.

In short, here signs to look for when network with an APIPA address:

• An IP address 169.254.xy administrators can initiate calls command and type ipconfig to find IP address.
• The ability to communicate with DHCP clients on the same subnet.
• The inability to communicate with all other computers, including on the Internet.

Because computers with APIPA addresses can not (typically) check their email, it may be better for administrators to configure clients with Vista a second IP address if DHCP server is below.

You do not need to do something to set APIPA, it is configured by default. To double-check:

1. Open Network Connections application control within the Expert Network and Internet group.
2. Right-click the desired network card and select Properties. Now select the Internet Protocol version 4 and click Properties.
3. In IPv4 Properties dialog box, select the Alternate Configuration tab.

This tab is Vista uses to regulate the behavior of the network when the computer can not obtain its IP address automatically. If you want to use APIPA, make sure "Automatically private IP address "radio button is selected.

We will use the same dialog in the discussion section following IP addresses change.

Use a second IP address

For the above restrictions (no access to the Internet, for example), you do not want Your computer uses an APIPA address if a DHCP server can not be found.

For example, say you bring your laptop to work where you know the IP address of the router and the pool, where IP addresses are distributed, you know the default gateway is 192.168.2.1, and the pool is in the range 192.168.2.2-254. In this case you will lose all connectivity network if the DHCP server is down and pulling a Vista APIPA address.

This could be a perfect opportunity to use a different setup with a static address. If your system is able to retrieve an IP address automatically, Vista will switch to what you have configured on this tab configuration.

And note here that you can also configure other settings, such as DNS servers and WINS name resolution.

The "IP address" field is where you can add multiple IP addresses to the same network interface. This can be useful in many circumstances, but it is generally considered bad practice. But many people have many reasons. Some programs require two IP addresses for communication.

The metric system

In most cases, the automatic metric is fine. But in special cases there are times when two network cards are used, and traffic should flow out of a card specific to one reason or another. In this case you can manually set the map metric.

For example, suppose you have two network cards, as follows:

NIC 1

IP address 192.168.66.16, the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 network and gateway 192.168.66.1

NIC 2

IP address 192.168.66.17, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, no gateway (you should have only one gateway in most configurations)

Let's say you have a program that needs to see traffic from 192.168.66.7 on this computer. But because the gateway is on 192.168.66.6, most of the traffic out of 192.168.66.16, then you metric 192.168.66.17 to 10 192.168.66.16 20. This will cause all internal traffic to leave and everything 192.168.66.17 traffic to the Internet to use 192.168.66.16, that the bridge in place. This is not a good practice, but it works very well.
